Fairly often I come across someone who tells me “I can’t lose weight”. They’ve tried fat loss supplements, fad diets, exercise videos, and sometimes even other Chicago personal trainers. They honestly feel there’s no hope.

I’ve been there too. As a teenager I honestly thought I could lose weight with fat loss pills. I bought the popular brands and imagined myself a few months down the line… When the time came, I was as hefty as when I started but I had constant headaches and feelings of jitteriness.

I studied the popular fad diets and I actually tried a few. After a month of the Atkins diet I lost about 10 pounds, but the nausea and sickness made life unbearable. Within 2 weeks I gained all the weight back and actually packed on 6 more pounds!

At that point, I gave exercise a try. I bought all the fitness magazines my part time job could afford and soaked in every word. For 6 months I tried all the bodybuilding routines and I did gain some muscle, but the fat I inherited would not come off.

My only hope was to find a better way, and I did.

I was able to go from 297 pounds down to 190 pounds. And eventually I gained almost 40 pounds of muscle to reach 227 pounds.

My genetics are far from the “slim type” some lucky people inherit, and losing fat is much harder for me then most, but the one excuse I never settled for was “I can’t lose weight”. If I did, I’d probably be at home, alone, and eating potato chips. I wouldn’t have been able to help so many people improve their lives, and they’d continue living unconfidently and ultimately unhappy.

The bottom line is… Believe in yourself and understand that you, yes you, can look great. All you need is a the right fitness program and hope.

Now, when a person tells me “I can’t lose weight”, I can only smile because they are in for a big, healthy, and life-changing surprise.

You decide to get in shape, you start learning about fitness and maybe you even find a personal trainer. You are serious about losing weight this time, and after a few weeks of working out you finally drop those 10 pounds and you feel great…

But then your results slow down. It seems like the fat doesn’t want to come off your body anymore. And eventually the time you put in doesn’t seem worthwhile and you quit…

This scenario is all too common, and more than likely it’s because the fitness program wasn’t switched up enough. One or two workouts are great for a few weeks, but your body begins to adapt and your transformation hits a plateau.

Even if the best personal trainer in the world handed you the perfect workout and you felt the fat dripping out of your pores like never before… Your results would eventually stall. It’s natural.

To see the best results, you should select a fitness program that suits your level of skill and try to set a new record every workout. So if you can run/jog a mile in 12 minutes, try to do it in 11:30 the next time, then 11:15, 11:00, etc.

Also, switch up your workouts every 3-6 weeks. When getting in shape, there’s no greater detriment then to stop seeing results… Overcome this by exercising regularly, setting new goals every workout, and switching it up every few weeks.

I hear it over and over, “I don’t have time to exercise”.

I know you have to attend to your family, friends, job, and fun time – but if you think you can’t find 3 hours a week to exercise, I recommend you reconsider. What else can you do that requires less than 2% of your time, and increases the quality of your life tenfold?

You see, America is the “fattest” country in the world with 2/3 of the population either overweight or obese… Very little physical activity and diets that contain refined sugars and manipulated fats are the cause of this epidemic. If you just exercised regularly and made a few minor changes to your diet, you would be more attractive, healthier, and your day would be a bit sweeter.

Imagine, the average American watches over three hours of television a day. They sit on their butts, munch on snacks, and pack on wads of fat. Their metabolism slows down. They feel sluggish, tired, and lazy. Their energy is drained and as they continue with the same lifestyle, the situation will only get worse.

On the flip side, you can break away from this common scenario and exercise 3 hours a week – and enjoy life more because of the extra energy, confidence, health, and a hot bod. With every day that passes you get closer to the ideal body you dream of. Life is no longer a chore, its fun.

The bottom line is… Take control of your life and find at least 3-4 hours a week to exercise. It will make you healthier and more attractive. And it’s nowhere near as bad, difficult, and time consuming as you think.

I can almost guarantee you just need a powerful fitness program and some motivation to back you up to stay on track.

Good luck!
